Since April 21st 2015 Google will favor mobile-optimized websites in search results on smartphones. So if you don’t want to get left behind in search results on mobile devices, it’s more important than ever to get your website mobile-ready as soon as possible (if you haven’t done so already a long time ago). In case you are not sure, if your website is mobile-optimized yet, you can quickly test your website using Google’s “Mobile Friendly Test Tool”.
How Can You Optimize Your Website for Mobile Devices?
If your website doesn’t pass the mobile-friendly test, you should make some changes to your website. The best way, especially when using WordPress is to choose a WordPress theme with a responsive web design. This way you can keep your design on all devices and the website layout will adapt automatically according to the available space on different screens of smartphones, tablets and desktop monitors.
If you can’t change your WordPress theme right away, you can use the mobile Theme available with the Jetpack plugin as a first workaround. After you installed Jetpack, you can activate the mobile theme in the Jetpack settings. But beware that you should not activate the Jetpack mobile theme, if you already have a responsive WordPress theme, since you want to use your theme’s responsive design, instead of the default mobile theme template that comes with the Jetpack featured.
Of course all Elmastudio WordPress themes have a mobile-optimized responsive web design as well.
