  1. Hi Ellen

    I just purchased this theme and I really like it. I have a problem though, I want to edit my previous posts to fit under text, quote, picture and so on. I really like the way you have shown the text post in the demo with a big picture above the post title, but how do you do it? I just can’t figure it out..
    Hope you can help.
    Thanks, Tanja

    1. @Tanja: Thanks so much, I’m happy you like the Kiore Moana theme. Sure, no problem, to include the big thumbnail images just add an image (the size is flexible, but for big images you can use images with a width of up to 1900 pixel (and like 950px height, like you see it in the live demo).

      Now you just need to add the image as a “Featured image” (see the featured image box in the post admin area) to standard posts and the image will show up above the post content. Please let me know, if it doesn’t work or you have additional questions. Best, Ellen

  2. Sieht ziemlich gut aus, aber irgendwie brauchen eure Themes immer mehr Platz. Auf einem Laptop ist man erst mal nur am scrollen, bevor man zum Inhalt kommt.

    Hi!

    I’ve just purchased the Kiore Moana theme and am having trouble of installing the theme. I’ve read from your documentation that I can select ‘Install themes’ tab under Appearance / Themes. However, I can’t seem to find the tab. Can you please advise? Thanks!

    1. Hi Kelly,

      I’m not 100% sure, but could it be that you are on a WordPress.com blog and not a self-hosted WordPress blog? If so, I’m very sorry for the misunderstanding, since the Kiroe Moana version you can purchase here directly on the Elmastudio website, only works with the self-hosted WordPress version (via WordPress.org). But you can also use Kiore Moana on WordPress.com, for that you would have to purchase the theme directly at WordPress.com (see http://theme.wordpress.com/themes/kiore-moana/). If you want to switch to the WordPress.com Kiore Moana theme version, of course I will refund you your Kiore Moana purchase. Please just write me a short message via our contact form and I will refund you the amount to your Paypal account.

      I hope I could help you with this info.
      Best, Ellen

  4. Hi! I’m going to purchase this theme but had a question first: Is there a way to make the font smaller and how would I do this? Thank you so much!!

    1. @Nikki: Yes, you could change the font sizes, but you would need to customize the CSS a little bit. You can use the Custom CSS option on the Kiore Moana theme options page and add some CSS like this (to change the post headline and the main text font sizes):

      [code]
      @media screen and (min-width: 1023px) {
      .entry-content p, .entry-summary p, .entry-content ul, .entry-content ol {
      font-size: 20px;
      font-size: 1.25rem;
      }
      .entry-header h1.entry-title, .entry-header h2.entry-title {
      font-size: 50px;
      font-size: 3.125rem;
      }
      }
      [/code]

      I hope this snippet is helpful.

  5. Hi Ellen!

    This is my first purchased theme, and I must say I absolutely love it!! I was a little confused at first about how to customize it, but your video was so helpful! Thanks for making it! I still have some questions–I want my header font to be bold like it is in your kiore moana site, but don’t know how to. Is this CSS code that needs to be added?

    Thanks!

  6. I love this theme! It is so beautiful and elegant in its simplicity. Great work!

    I was just wondering if you could include a Social Link icon for the VSCO (http://vsco.co) grid on the next update. I would love to be able to link my grid (http://chelleart.vsco.co) within this widget.

    Thank you again!

    Hello Ellen,
    Thank you so much for sharing your video. I just purchased the theme through WordPress.com, and so far, so good. I just have a few quick questions. 1.) Is there a way to change the background color for the “Info” page? Under “Appearance” on the WP.com hosted theme, there is no “Theme Options” listed in the drop down menu. I did, however, find “Theme Options” under “Customize,” but the only element visible is a space to add the link that is needed to create the Info. page…nothing pertinent to design for the Info. page, specifically. I have the options to change the background color, but it changes the color of every page. I’d like to keep the white background for the “Home” page and change the color of the Information page background to another color if that’s possible on a WP.com hosted theme. 2.) Is there a way to create breaks or returns in the “About” Widget or “Headline” widget? All of my copy is running together, and it appears as one long paragraph instead of separate ones. Is it as simple as adding breaks? If so, where? In the text box of the widget or somewhere else?
    Thank you!
    Heather

  8. Courtney

    I love this theme, but I have one issue.
    Is there anyway to have a menu bar at the top of the home page?

    1. Hi Courtney: Thanks so much for your feedback, I’m happy that you like the Kiore Moana theme. Unfortunately it’s not possible by default to add the menu to the home page, since the only minimal menu button in the theme is the info page button. I hope you still like the Kiore Moana theme with it’s very minimal approach. Best, Ellen

  9. Amar

    Hi,

    I love Kiore Moana and I’d like to use it in a single page website. I had a couple of questions.
    1. How can I remove the header completely? The part with the rounded image and the text underneath/next to it.
    2. How can I prevent the post titles from being clickable. i.e I don’t want my users to click through to the detailed post page.

    Thanks,
    Amar

    1. @Amar: Thanks a lot for your feedback, so happy that you like the Kiore Moana theme. You could hide (I would not completely remove it) the header title completely by <dding this CSS to the Custom CSS option:

      [code]
      #site-title {display: none !important;}
      [/code]

      To prevent the titles from being clickable you would need to change the content.php template file and remove the a-tag on h2 entry-title.

      Best, Ellen

    1. Hi Aaron,

      thank you so much for your great feedback, o happy to hear that :) I’m not 100% sure, since it would be a customization and I haven’t tried it myself, but you could try to add the following CSS to the Custom CSS option to delete the whitespace at the top of your header area:
      [code]
      #site-title {
      display: none !important;
      }
      [/code]

      Best, Ellen

  10. Hi Ellen,
    I am a beginner here and I really like your Kiore Moana theme. I am using this theme on my page.
    However, I am having trouble using the widgets as what you said in the demo video. For example, Header Slogan, after I save it, it still does not appear on my front page. And then, when I upload photos and put captions, it does not appear. Basically, everything does not appear,only the post appears. What should I do?

    1. @Farah: Thanks a lot for your feedback, I’m happy you like the Kiore Moana theme. Could you revisit the widget option and check, if your widget header widget is really saved. In the last couple days I got some users who reported trouble with saving options on WordPress.com themes. If you are still having the same issues, could you please post your question directly on the Kiore Moana forum for WordPress.com users: http://premium-themes.forums.wordpress.com/forum/kiore-moana

      I will then answer your questions directly there. Thanks a lot! Best, Ellen

    I am trying to set up the Kiore Moana Info Page and Info button. As I follow the tutorial, all is well until I get to the part that shows the Appearance tab and the Theme Options tab just below the Menu tab and above the Editor tab. I don’t have that Theme Options tab. I can go to the Customize tab and it will go to my main page. Over to the right I have a column of options. One is Theme Options. So I copied the Info Page URL there. But when I go to my Home page and click the Info button, all I get is “Nothing Found
    Apologies, but the page you requested could not be found. Perhaps searching will help!”
    I’m a beginner at all this stuff, and I don’t know how to proceed. Help!

  12. hi Ellen,
    I love the theme, but after watching you tutorial, i realized i dont have theme option, so i can not do my info page, is that because im not premium? Im so excited and i want to start using my blog, but it doesnt look like the sample one, for instance the thing i liked the most was the picture you posted in the beginning that takes all the space in the scream, i cant even do that, if i try my picture is always smaler.

    Can you please give me a hand with that?

    thanks
    Paula

  13. Hi, I purchased this theme through wordpress.com and am trying to place a “follow me” widget for both non and wordpress.com users but for some reason the widget is overlapped by my current post of the moment and doesn’t seem to show the full text or button and am not sure what to do really, and can’t seem to find any forum posts with similar issues (maybe what I’m searching) any help would be very helpful. Thanks for the beautiful theme! Azania.

  14. Hi Ellen!
    I love the theme! How do I show a featured video like you have using the video post format? Mine does not show up. Thanks!

  15. I just purchased the theme through WordPress.com, and I love it! I just have a few quick questions.

    1) How do I reduce the space under the Header slogan widget area?
    2) How do I show the Header slogan wiget area on all pages but on not the info one?

    Thanks a lot for your help… I really appreciate!

    Annie

    Note: Sorry for my english, I hope you will be able to understand me… I am francophone :-)

    1. Hi Annie,

      thanks for your comment, but since you bought the WordPress.com version of Kiore Moana and both theme versions (WordPress.com and self-hosted) work a little bit different, could you please use the Premium WordPress.com forum for Kiore Moana for any questions (you can just copy/paste your question from here). That would be wonderful!

      Thanks a lot!
      Ellen

    Hi, I have kiore moana on wordpress.com and I cant work out how you put photos in the post that have titles underneath and have the words wrapped around the photos on the left or right? Similar to the fron page of the demo?
    I know its probably simple!
    Thanks :)

  17. Hi Ellen!

    This theme looks awesome and would love to purchase it. I have a quick question though – can I customize photos I’ll use within a post to appear full-length (i.e., like how the featured image looks like)? I’m not planning to customize all my photos inside posts to be like that; just a few, probably 2 or 3 items I really like, so they’d appear larger. Could I do this with this theme?

    Thanks a lot!

    Owen

  18. Hi Ellen,

    I absolutely love the Kiore Moana theme! I purchased it and after a bit of trial and error, it fits my needs perfectly. I had a bit of trouble figuring out a few things, but ultimately I was able to customize the theme exactly how I wanted it to function. You can see here: http://danielyewright.com

    Thanks for making such a beautiful minimal theme! : )

  19. Hi Ellen!

    I love the theme!
    You are creating a gallery page, but it does not go well.
    Is it safe in the [gallery ids = ""] gallery code?

    よろしくお願いします!

  20. Hey Ellen,

    Eventuell findest du ja zu ruhiger Stunde mal ein wenig Zeit, auf meine Probleme einzugehen. Falls nicht, geht das Leben womöglich auch weiter ;)

  21. Hi, I have two questions about this theme:

    One, it seems very easy to insert contact form, without the plug in, but then there is no send button. In order to get the send button, I had to download a plug in, but now of course the contact page is formatted differently from the rest of the site.

    Two, how can I get rid of hyphenation? It seems that titles site-wide will hyphenate and I wondered if there was a way to turn off hyphenation site wide?

    Thanks so much.

    1. Hi Elizabeth,

      I’m so sorry for my late reply. We support the Contact Form 7 WordPress plugin in the Kiore Moana theme. With this plugin you are able to create contact forms that will look like the one in the Kiore Moana live demo under: http://themes.elmastudio.de/kioremoana/contact/

      In order to deactivate automatic hyphens for the entire site, you can add the following Custom CSS via the theme options settings:

      [code]
      body {
      -webkit-hyphens: none !important;
      -moz-hyphens: none !important;
      -ms-hyphens: none !important;
      hyphens: none !important;
      }
      [/code]

      Best, Ellen

  22. Thanks, that is helpful. Now I have another question. Your button code – in the documentation sheet – works to create buttons and they look beautiful on computer, but do not render at all on iphone. On the iphone, you only see the code:
    [button link=”http://www.attuning.org/executive-education” color=”blue” size=”large”]Executive Education[/button]

    Were you aware of this? Is it an easy fix?

  23. Anna

    Hi Ellen,

    Loving this theme so far! I’ve recently moved my site from wordpress.com to wordpress.org and I’m wondering how I can move the theme as well without needing to purchase it again.
    Looking forward to hearing back!

    Thanks,
    Anna

  24. Dear Ellen,
    I am writing again to ask if you’re aware of problems with site rendering in iphone? Those lovely big images don’t show at all on iphone. And the button code you provide in the documentation creates lovely buttons that you can see when viewing on computer, but they don’t render on iphone – all you see is the code where the buttons should be.
    I appreciate your reply.
    Thanks,
    Elizabeth

  25. Hi Ellen,

    thanks for this wonderful theme which I purchased. I like it a lot!

    One think I would really like to change (and I did really unprofessional) is the following: Put the 2-line-slogan in the masthead right next to the pic. I tried it different ways and this is what I came up with (which you will probably really dislike …)

    1) Change the masthead.php to …

    [line canceled]

    Simon de Vries
    erlebtes | entdecktes | erdachtes

    2. Change the css to …

    #site-title h1 {
    margin: 0;
    display: block;
    font-size: 15px;
    font-size: 1.2375rem;
    line-height: 1.6;
    font-weight: 500;
    text-transform: none;
    letter-spacing: 1px;
    word-wrap: break-word;}

    #site-title h1 a {
    color: #4f5759;}

    #masthead h3.slogan-headline {
    margin: 0;
    font-weight: 100;
    line-height: 1.3;
    text-transform: uppercase;
    letter-spacing: 1px;}

    To be honest. I didn’t even really know what I was doing. But in the end it looked like I wanted it to. But only in my browser and on my iPad. On my iPhone it’s messed up.

    That’s my own fault, I know. ;-) But do you have a better solution maybe?

    Thanks! Simon

  26. Rebecka

    I have a question.

    In the video tutorial, I see the text “More info” and “Back to home” when you hover over the info icon and home icon. However, it doesn’t work like that in the demo. Is there a setting for this in the theme?

  27. Hi there,

    I love your theme but am still getting the hang of it. I’ve noticed that my Excerpts aren’t showing up, though I have added content. Do you have any idea why this may be? Thanks!

  28. Eric

    Hi Ellen,

    I’m having an issue in the ‘About (Kiore Moana)’ widget where the ‘about subtitle’ font is bigger than the title font. It does change size along with the title when I change the headings font size, but it’s always larger than the title anyways. I’m not sure how to go about changing the size of the subtitle independent of the title to make it smaller. Do you have an idea about how to make this change?

    Thank you!

  29. Hi Ellen,

    One more question: I’ve added the Social media widget to my Info Page but only my Pinterest icon seems to be showing, despite entering info for also Twitter, Instagram, and Youtube.

    Any ideas? Thanks again!
